November board meeting
The Village board approved the 2015 comprehensive plan at its November meeting. Thank you to the planning board for your hard work
We are all happy after an unusually warm December. Many projects were able to be completed that would have had to wait till Spring. The homes receiving money form our rehabilitation grant are well underway. We were also able to keep are heating and snow plowing budgets below expectations. The new LED snowflakes were put up on the Sidney side of the village. More will be purchased in 2016. These lights use about 25% of the power the old lights used. Have a great holiday....
The board has passed the 2016/2017 budget at its March Meeting. We were able to to maintain services with a 0% increase in property taxes and water rates while decreasing our use of the fund balance and still putting away money in our capital reserve funds. We were able to save this year because of savings from lower fuel and gas prices and some savings on insurance and workman's comp rates.
So its been awhile since I had an update. A number of things are going on around the Village. We have had a pretty "normal" Winter a little cold to begin with which caused some problems with a couple of water main breaks, and then an average amount of snow. We are hoping to pave Depot street by May. The board is working on gathering information for a Rec Grant to replace the tennis courts and upgrade the village parks (stay tuned for updates). Village elections are coming up on March 20th Mayor and 2 trustees..... Starting to work on the 18/19 village budget looking to repaint the library this year.
